Our one-inch thick AR500 steel shooting targets are intended for use with .50 BMG projectiles. As such, they're perfectly capable of handling any magnum pistol or high power rifle rounds you want to throw at them. They are, however, HEAVY and often overkill for most other uses. These targets are rated for .50 BMG rounds at 100 yards. Most military surplus .50 BMG ammunition is steel core, and may penetrate or damage steel targets. Our testing was conducted with Hornedy factory loaded AMAX 750 grain projectiles. Details of testing can be found here.
Note: Due to the thickness of the AR500 steel plate used, these targets are cut with a CNC plasma cutter instead of a CNC laser. Due to heat soak from the plasma cutter reducing the hardness at the cut edges, we recommend buying these targets one inch larger in diameter than you require.
